We offer a frontline emergency and operational services discount. While many people refer to this as a “Blue Light discount”, we are not formally affiliated with the Blue Light Card scheme.

Why We’re Clear About This

At The Grange Spa, we believe rest and recovery matter for everyone. However, we also believe discounts should be meaningful, not blanket or confusing.

For that reason, our Blue Light and Forces discounts are specifically aimed at frontline emergency and operational roles. These are the people whose work regularly involves acute pressure, immediate risk, and life-saving responsibility.

By being clear, we avoid confusion. As a result, we also prevent awkward conversations and disappointment later on.

Who Our Blue Light Discount Is For

Our Blue Light discount is intended for frontline emergency and clinical professionals, including:

• NHS frontline clinical staff

• Paramedics and ambulance crews

• Emergency department and ICU teams

• Crisis and emergency mental health responders

• Fire and rescue services

• Police response units

In these roles, stress is often immediate and cumulative. Moreover, recovery isn’t optional — it’s essential.

What About Teachers and Social Workers?

We fully recognise that teaching and social work are demanding, high-stress professions. In fact, the emotional load in these roles can be significant.

However, our Blue Light discount is not based on stress alone. Instead, it is reserved for frontline emergency and operational roles where individuals respond directly to urgent or life-threatening situations as part of their day-to-day work.

For that reason, teachers and most social work roles are not included within this specific discount.

Importantly, this is not a judgement of value or importance. Rather, it allows us to keep the policy clear, fair, and consistently applied.

Forces Discount – How This Works

The same principle applies to our Forces discount.

We offer this discount to active, operational military roles, such as:

• Infantry

• Pilots and aircrew

• Deployed or operational personnel

However, it does not apply to civilian MOD roles or office-based, non-operational positions.

Again, this ensures the discount supports those facing the most intense physical and psychological demands.

Proof of Eligibility – How We Verify Discounts

To keep our approach fair and consistent, we verify eligibility on your first visit only.

By doing this, we apply our discounts as intended while keeping interactions straightforward and respectful.

What We Accept

We can verify eligibility using one of the following:

• A Blue Light Card, alongside a work ID badge confirming a frontline or operational role

• As we are not affiliated to the blue light card scheme a work ID badge showing a frontline emergency or operational position will do the trick

• An official work email address (for example, NHS, emergency services, or MOD), where the role is clear

Once we confirm eligibility, we note it on your profile. As a result, you won’t be asked again on future visits.

A Note on Blue Light Cards

While many essential workers qualify for a Blue Light Card, the scheme itself is broad. Therefore, holding a card alone doesn’t automatically guarantee eligibility. The Grange Spa does not work directly with the blue light card scheme we are not an official affiliate of this discount program. 

For that reason, we also verify the role itself to ensure it aligns with our frontline criteria. If you’re unsure whether a discount applies to you, our team will always be happy to advise in advance.

Why We Take This Approach

We’re a small, boutique spa with limited guest numbers and a strong focus on unhurried care. Because of that, we choose to offer fewer discounts, but apply them intentionally.

This approach allows us to:
