A day in the life...
A Day in the Life of a Spa Therapist at The Grange Spa
At The Grange Spa, being a Spa Therapist is so much more than delivering treatments — it’s about creating space for guests to slow down, reconnect, and truly relax. As a family-run boutique spa nestled in the Lincolnshire countryside, we take pride in offering a calm and meaningful experience.
At The Grange Spa, we often describe our team as having the swan effect — calm and serene on the surface, gracefully delivering treatments and hospitality, while behind the scenes we’re working with quiet determination, focus, and teamwork. No matter what the day brings, our wonderful team pulls together to ensure every guest enjoys a seamless, peaceful experience. It’s this balance of professionalism, care, and hard work that allows us to create the tranquil atmosphere our guests know and love.
So, what’s it really like to be part of our spa family? Here’s a peek into a typical day for one of our full-time Spa Therapists.
Let’s talk Therapists – They’re hands-on – literally!
A full-time beauty therapist will perform over 2,000 treatments per year on average – from massages and facials to waxing and holistic therapies. That’s around 160 pairs of hands, faces or legs per month… and yes, they remember every single regular’s “bad shoulder.”
8:00-10 AM – Arrive, Breathe, and Prepare
Therapists arrive to the scent of essential oils and the soft hum of spa music already setting the tone. Each day starts with preparing the spa and our treatment rooms — everything from fresh linens to the perfect lighting to preparing herbal teas & fruit infused water for our guests.
9:00-10.00 AM – Morning Guests Arrive
Our first guests of the day are warmly welcomed. We keep our guest numbers intentionally low, this way each guest can unwind on arrival. This allows the team to deliver a personal experience.
From massages and facials to holistic therapies and Pinks Boutique rituals, every session is a chance to make someone feel cared for, seen, and restored.
12:30 PM – Team Check-in and Lunch
Midday brings a pause — a chance to catch up with team members, have lunch, and support each other. We share tips, talk treatments, and check how everyone’s doing.
They’re low-key wellness ninjas.
80% of clients say spa and beauty treatments have a positive impact on their mental health, reducing anxiety, stress, and improving overall wellbeing. Beauty therapists aren’t just pampering – they’re playing a frontline role in emotional support and self-care.
1:00 PM – Afternoon Treatments & Reception Support
The afternoon may include a mix of treatments and sometimes time on reception. Whether we’re in the treatment room or welcoming a guest at the front desk, it’s all part of delivering a seamless, thoughtful experience. Every role matters, and we all pitch in together.
Our RSI point system also means treatment schedules are balanced — helping us protect therapists from burnout and ensuring variety throughout the week.
5:30-6.30 PM – Wind Down and Tidy Up
As the final guests leave, we tidy our spaces and reset the spa for the next day. Cleanliness, organisation, and care for our environment is a shared responsibility. We take pride in keeping The Grange Spa beautiful and peaceful — for our guests and ourselves.

They’re always learning.
The average beauty therapist undertakes at least 3-5 new training modules per year – whether it’s advanced skin science, sustainable beauty, or new massage techniques. This isn’t just a job – it’s a craft that’s constantly evolving.
